What Are Cookies?

  Examples:

• Multimedia Player, Load Balancing, or Interface Customization Cookies: Exempt from the ePrivacy Directive.

• Plug-in or Social Cookies: Exempt only when the user is logged in. These control interactions with social networks. Used in platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc.

• Analytics or Measurement Cookies: We must obtain informed consent, although these cookies are usually low-risk if used directly by us and only process aggregated statistical data.
  Whether managed by us or third parties, these cookies quantify users, measure and analyze user behavior, count ad impressions or clicks, and help improve our offerings.

• Advertising Cookies: Managed by us or third parties, they help manage ad space on the website, adapting content based on the requested service, the website usage, or user browsing habits.

Other Storage Methods Similar to Cookies

• HTML5 LocalStorage and SessionStorage: Storage areas that websites can use on the user’s device. These can typically be cleared by deleting browser history.

• Flash Local Shared Objects: Store more data than cookies, are independent of the browser, and harder to find or delete. They can even regenerate standard cookies. Examples include Silverlight Isolated Storage, which requires accessing the Microsoft user folder to delete (e.g., Vimeo videos).

• Web Beacons or Bugs: Tiny, invisible images embedded in the website. They are loaded when the page is visited but are hosted on another server. They record visits using the information the browser provides when downloading the image: IP address, OS, browser, number of times and times the image is accessed.
